I paint landscapes that feature kayaks or canoes on lakes and rivers. Rivers and moving water are important metaphors for me that mirror the challenges of life. Water is also a metaphor for the life that fills through us. We truly cannot live without water as humans are mostly made of water.
When I paint in oils on canvas, I pursue undulating lines, sharp edges, and soft textures. Often I abandon brushes, place the canvas on the floor and use fingernails and palms to push, scrape, add, or remove paint. When I am not painting, I draw abstract designs using colored pencils, and I enjoy creating impressionistic landscapes in pastels.
